AgroSolarGermany and UK based alternative energy experts AGROSOLAR have just commissioned an extensive website project to nadworks. We are over the moon (or rather "over the sun") to be able to get involved in this innovative and exciting new idea of providing clean power solutions to the agricultural sector. AGROSOLAR are developing and building bespoke renewable energy sources for individual farming communities.

We have so far equipped AGROSOLAR with a fresh corporate identity and are now in the process of creating their complex website - currently being built on www.agrosolar.net.

Survival in business depends on your ability to communicate effectively through the internet. What is new is the realisation that just having any old website isn’t enough. The quality of your site and the nature of its content are paramount and your ability to communicate with your audience is the key.

A good website is built on two basic truths—that the internet is an interactive medium and that the end user is in fact human. In other words, it is meant to be an experience. As with any adventure, a little strategic thought is needed to ensure that the experience is enjoyable...

"Having a website designed by Nadworks has been an incredible asset to my career as a musician. Nadja' s intelligent and intuitive design ideas, her understanding of cutting edge technology, and a beautiful aesthetic sense all come together to represent me and my work in the best way possible. Simply put, she's the best."

Design is largely an exercise in creating or suggesting contrasts in an effort to convey meaning.

"If you’re a designer, you work to communicate and convey meaning. So it’s important that you understand the mechanisms by which things and ideas acquire meaning; more than any other factor, your grasp of these fundamentals determines your ability to communicate effectively. Without fundamentals, you will flounder when faced with complex design challenges or constraints." [...]

Siula Grande Designnadworks' subdivision for offline design solutions has now officially been added to the portfolio and will be presenting itself with a brand new website soon, on www.siulagrande.com. Siula Grande first stepped onto the paper scene in 2005, when they developed the CD packaging for the Joe Locke / Christos Rafalides album "Van Gogh by Numbers" (Wire Walker). First regarded as a one-off creative challenge, Siula Grande has decided to line up new projects for 2007, including trade fair stall and brochure design for the mVibe (vanderPlas Percussion, NL) and concert tour advertisement for the 'Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra'.

What's with the name "Siula Grande"?

Tommy SmithNo.1 Scottish saxophonist, composer and educator -- Jazz musician Dr. Tommy Smith -- just launched his brand new official website and nadworks' latest music design project, www.tommysmith.co.uk. Building on our experience in presenting the Jazz genre on the web, by developing strong user-focused and cross-browser/-platform compatible concepts, Tommy Smith's site is now another exciting jewel in our portfolio. It is providing Tommy with the tool he needs to communicate his music and gives fans and promoters the chance to catch up with the artist's creative projects.

It's not the most pleasurable of jobs, as it mainly consists of finding sinsible and often nitty-gritty workarounds for extremely bulky and out-of-date html. Nevertheless we have recently agreed to pimp a few mySpace pages on request - with the help of some oversized graphics and strategically placed CSS.
Here are a few desperately stylish pimpages for some of our musical friends.
pimping myspace
By now, the MySpacers will not be able to easily upgrade to a more W3C compliant structure, as this would immediately crash thousands of re-designed and styled personal pages. Now that would be a laugh...

Slide Show ProTodd Dominey has developed this extremely neat and customisable tool, which is probably one of the best Flash components I have worked with so far. And he's improving it further. In addition with SlideShow Director it provides highly compatible display option for image heavy websites, portfolios and web galleries. Check out Todd's other work, too. The man knows his stuff!

Mike Davidson has written an interesting article noting that MySpace has intentionally avoided improvements at usability under the rationale that poor usability often results in more clicks and hence more page views, which in turn generates more advertising revenue.

NadBlogThe more "nad" than "works" related entries will be going into the blog from now on. It's been long coming as keeping things tidy and separate became the most pressing issue when Schoppenhauer started collecting Portuguese left-foot socks. So here's the blog (and again, this type of entry should not be here).
